Quite often in regions surrounded by marshes mystic stories are told: inexplainable vanishing of people, meanders, battles and wars… The dark side of the marshes is maybe related to the unpredictable pathlessness, the straying, cause there are no paths. Sometimes we just have to take the long route when a marsh is lying in between. The dominical walk to the church was certainly not the only reason to fix the route through the marsh to Zossen. Possibly this way has disappeared because you can easily drive around the swamp – in the same time as afoot straight through the morass.
With the reed field in front of the church I wanted to narrate the story of this path and to bring to mind the character of the landscape. So this installation shall tell from the relation between the church and the people, and a way that connected them by swampy reed fields.
